With the development of western coal area, the shallow seam with thin bed rock is deeply studied by researchers in our country. The overburden movement and mining pressure behavior of typical shallow coal seam mining face is obtained, which can well guide the field production. But with mining deeply, the mining of thick bedrock shallow seam is growing. As the overburden movement and mining pressure behavior of shallow coal seam has its own characteristics, researching on it have great practical significance for guiding the safety of shallow seam mining.Combined with actual practice of Ciyaobao wells technical innovation project in Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group (SNCIG), the behavior regularity of shallow seam overburden movement, distribution of support pressure and mining pressure are studied though combining two methods of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. Theories in this dissertation analyze types of shallow seam of the roof structure and the support pressure distribution. Processes of the surface damages and characters of support pressure on 2301 working face in Ciyaobao well technological innovation are studied by the RFPA simulation software. Also, this dissertation includes researches on faces of the old roof first weighting step, periodic weighting step and support pressure distribution.The study shows that, the technological innovation well in Ciyaobao is the shallow buried coal seam. The 2301 working face collapses immediately with the mining process. However, the old roof is hard to collapse. The first weighting step of old roof is big enough to bring threats to personal and equipment safety. The roofs of 2301 mining face are two key layers, the regularity of pressures are not equal. Roof first weighting step calculated by beam fracture is clearly incompatible with the actual situation, while the structural analysis is coincided with the actual situation.
