The multifunction hollow magnetic carbon microspheres (HMCSs) was synthesized by low-temperature hydrothermal, assembly of environmental and extremely biocompatibleβ-cyclodextrin and Fe 3 O4 stabilized by oleic acid and ammonia. Thereinto, the magnetic particles can not only improve the mechanical stresses of carbon microspheres, but also play a role of catalyst for the phase transformation from amorphous carbon to graphite, and the transition temperature was reduced dramatically. Meanwhile, the carbon shell could protect the magnetic particles from agglomerating and environmental insult. After thermal treatment, the specific area of carbon microspheres had the very big increasing, and it could adsorb organic dyes and a variety of heavy metal (noble metal) ion. The characterization of SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman and IR were used to study the formation mechanisms of hollow magnetic carbon microspheres and the function of each ingredient.Furthmore, the surface of the spheres were rich of functional groups which helped for the adsorption of metal precursor and nanoparticles. And do not need the surface modification. We used HMCSs as carrier to coordinate with target metal ions, then following a thermal treatment, composite HMGS@MO2 microspheres were fabricated. It can be used as affinity probe for the enrichment of phosphopeptides in a tryptic digest of a mixture of casein (composed ofα-casein andβ-casein) at a low concentration selectivity and efficiency, then magnetic-assisted separation.
