In most domestic printing enterprises, waste of paper and ink, poor color reduction, low production efficiency are still exist. The reason is that ink supply is estimated according to staff's experience and ink key is adjusted by hand in the process of ink still. This thesis researches the digitalization of ink supply in printing equipments which is applied in the digital connect between preprinting and printing process. Divided the image in several zones of equal width according to the length of the picture. The width of the zone is the width of the ink zone of printing press. Read the dot cover areas of each ink zone and store them to prepare for calculating the blade opening. The corresponding relationship between blade opening and dot cover area is obtained through numerous experiments and is written in a txt file. The information of blade opening is read according to the average dot area when the program is running. The corresponding relationship between blade opening and dot area depends on the structure of offset printing press, ink, paper, printing speed, temperature and humidity, and ink water balance. This thesis only considers paper and printing speed, and the final software displays ink and blade opening with a column diagram.This thesis designs an ink still software which operates easily and meet the current situation of small and medium-sized printing enterprises. The experiment result shows that the effect of ink still is good, the preparation time is shortered, the production efficiency is improved, the waste of paper and ink is reduced and the cost is lowered. Small medium-sized printing enterprises can benefit in the quality of printing production and efficiency.
