Iron ore basic reserve in China forms about 16% of 310 billion tons all of the world, therefore, there is more lean ore but less rich ore, ferrous metal basic reserve is only 15 billion tons, which only forms about 9% of those all of the world. The average grade of iron ore is only 30%, which is mostly mined and processed difficultly. At present, about 2/3 bstate-owned ackbone enterprise has been in late, many mines are going to be closed owing to resource exhaustion. But there are many iron mines not to be exploited and utilized in our country. Most of the ore's separability is poor. Sothere are great realistic significance and profound historic significance to summarize the experience and investigating the problems in the modification of complex iron orefor accelerately advancing the development of iron ore dressing technology and utilizing the resources availably.The Chamosite of LinJiang in Jilin Province consists mostly of magnetite, limonite, and a given mass of hausmannite, iron silicate mineral, and measly hematite as well. There are measly sulfide, which mostly are pyrite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite; Secondary sulfide are bornite, covellite in the ore. In addition, there are lessly glaucodot. Gangue mineral mostly are quartzs, iron silicate mineral, in addition, some apatite, urdite, kaolinite and rutile are contained. And the iron minerals in the ore compose complexily, imbue fine, furthermore gangue minerals are chlorite, which is argilliferous easily. So it is difficult to separate the ore with general beneficiating process.In the text we separate the ore with classing-roasting-magnetic separation, and determine the optimum condition of each size fraction, and then gotten satisfactory results.The best roasting condition of the fine particle size(-6mm+0):Temperature 600℃~650℃, Time 10min, Coal dosage 15%. The best roasting condition of the mid-particle size (-12mm+6mm):Temperature 600℃, Time 10min, Coal dosage 10%. The best roasting condition of the coarse particle size (-20mm+12mm):Temperature 800℃, Time 20min, Coal dosage 20%.Basis on classing-roasting-magnetic separation, it is roasted in the muffle and then gotten the optimum condition and satisfactory results.The best roasting condition:Temperature 800℃, Time 20min, Coal dosage 25%, magnetic field strength 108kA/m. As a result, the grade of concentrate is 60.83%, the grade of tailing is 27.60% and the recovery of concentrate is 64.1%.The X-ray diffraction analysis of differ size fraction roasted product shows that, the roasted product mostly Fe3O4, SiO2, measly FeSiO3, Fe2O3, which illustrates that roasting magnetic separation is an effective separation method to handle the LingYang iron ore of LinJiang.
