The structure of material determines it's properties and performance,so revealing the relationship between microstructure and performance is a significant foundation for material design.The development of modern science and technology is promoting material research to step into a quantitative research stage from a qualitative research stage. Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy is a typical near-p titanium alloy with high strength, fracture toughness and is widely used in aerospace,as well,it's comprehensive mechanical properties can be optimized and coordinated in a wide range by way of forging process as well as solution and aging process.In this paper,the author applies some quantitative research methods to study the relationship between its microscopic structure and its performance and gains some meaningful conclusions.On the base of qualitative understanding of Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy, the author divides it's microstructures into four categories according to their characteristics and chooses appropriate microstructural parameters which can describe the structure and performance of Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy quantitatively, such as crystal grain size,volume fraction of phase and shape factor to measure Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al alloy. By some feasible measureing methods, the author obtains the actual distribution and statistical mean value of each parameter and then builds Artificial Neural Network(ANN) to forecast the mechanical properties corresponding to each microstructure,by wich when the value of microstructural parameters are adjusted, the change status of performance parameters correspondingly are disclosed.After specific analysis, the author finds that there is a near linear relation between microstructure and performance parameters. So the type of the relationship between microstructure and performance can be revealled by ANN.Because there is a near linear relationship between microstructure and performance,we can apply multiple linear regression to set up a formula that can reveal the relation between these parameters. In this essay,the author uses SPSS(a statistical software) to carry out the multiple linear regression for each microstructure category and gets the relation formula on the ground of statistical results.The analysis shows that for some categories, the relation formula is very accurate, but for some categories, the relation formula has great errors and it is not so meaningful in statistics.The author believes that it is relevant to the whole experiment process,in other words,the preparation and microstructure control of samples,the measuring method and it's accurancy,the classification of micro structures and the selection of parameters,the realization of the relation type between microstructure and performance,the reliability of the model all have a great influence on the analysis results.
