With the development of science and technology, virtual manufacturing has been more and more widely applied. Virtual machining technology is the key of fundamental technology of virtual manufacturing, it occupied a very important place in virtual manufacturing and can be realized on the machining process, prediction and optimization of product quality and process efficiency.In this dissertation, a system used for the simulation of the virtual manufacturing of sheet metal forming is developed, and it is based on the characteristics and needs of sheet metal forming. It is developed with the development tool Visual C++6.0 and the technologies of MFC and OpenGL on the Windows XP system. It includes simulation systems of virtual air plasma arc cutting, virtual pre-bending and virtual coiling, which is designed according to the functional objectives of each subsystem. After studying of the parameters of the air plasma arc cutting process in the modeling process and the comparison to some frequent geometric modeling, the model for cutting process is built up in the ways of the boundary representation of single cycle linked list, and the function of dynamic simulation of the cutting process with different process parameters is implemented. Through the analysis of the pre-bending process and process parameters, the modeling of pre-bending machines in the way of a single cycle linked list and the modeling of pre-bending process in the double circular linked list, the goal of dynamic simulation of pre-bending process in different machines is also achieved. In the analysis of coiling process, the geometry and mechanics process parameters are mainly studied. The function of dynamic simulation of rolling process in different bending machines is achieved by modeling of sheet in the coiling process in the way of the double circular linked list and by modeling of bending machines in the method of the normal vector and surface modeling. In addition, the statistics for the operation time and the cost of production in the cutting process, the pre-bending process and the coil process is implemented.Finally, the dissertation completed the development of a sheet metal forming process simulation system, and it shows that the simulation system with a good real-time, interactive, and 3D graphics can effeetively simulate the sheet metal forming process.
