Polyvinyl butyral, PVB for short, is a kind of synthetic resin. Its production are used in laminated safety glass, adhesive agent, paint and so on. However, during the period of processing or storage and using, polymers may occur thermo-oxidative degradation. So we need to add some kind of antioxidants to promote the thermal oxidation stability of the polymer.Simultaneous thermal analysis method, using TG/DSC-IR-MS hyphenated techniques, can detect the reaction, the weight loss, heat quantity change, infrared spectrum and mass spectrum of decomposition products when the materials occurred thermal decomposition under different heating rates.This paper studies the decomposition properties, decomposition products and thermal kinetics of the pure PVB under N2 atmosphere and air atmosphere using simultaneous thermal analysis method respectively. By calculating the the pyrolysis kinetic parameters of PVB under N2 atmosphere using Kissinger equation Ozawa equation and the new Heat conduction differential equation, The study shows:because of the complexity of the pyrolysis of polymer such as PVB, integral method can express the total kinetic parameters of the pyrolysis process of PVB better.This paper studies the decomposition process of PVB added antioxidant 245, antioxidant 300, antioxidant 1010, antioxidant 1024, antioxidant 1076, antioxidant 1098 and antioxidant B215 using simultaneous thermal analysis(TG/DSC) respectively, calculates their kinetics parameters and compares the different effects of those antioxidants. The study shows:under the experimental conditions of this paper, the PVB that adds antioxidant 1098 and antioxidant B215 respectively shows the better thermal stability and thermal oxidative stability.
