In recent decades, because of its own advantages ,pipeline transport becomes the main means of conveying oil and gas,in order to ensure and maintain the buried in the ground pipeline network safe, need to be to conduct regular inspection. Since the end of 50's and before 60's, America shell company T. R. Schmidt professor successfully developed the early remote field eddy current testing instrument and applied in the pipeline detection. Until now, the far field eddy current testing technology has been widely researched each country, and it is playing a more and more important role in the pipeline daily maintenance and security. This paper mainly discussed the pulsed remote field eddy current technique signal features in the small diameter oil pipeline detection. And designed the remote field eddy current detection platform. Using ANSYS, Multisim simulation software assists the sensor and the hardware circuit design. This detection system mainly constituted by the excitation source, probe, power amplifiers, signal regulate circuit and the data acquisition module components. And the probe consisted of exciter coil and detector coil. Based on the design of the system, make pipes to different shapes of different depths defect for detection. Analyse about the detector coil voltage signal feature in different depth defect. Using LABVIEW development environment to write data acquisition program for obtaining detector coil voltage signal. Analyse comprehensively of detector coil voltage peak and zero time to detect the pipeline defect.Using the pulsed remote field eddy current technique to detect the different shapes and different depths defect, according to the data collected, the pulsed remote field eddy current technique can effectively detect 4mm, 6mm and 8mm defect in 10mm thickness tube wall. This technique is very reliable and effective.
