MRF carries on polishing the workpiece through shear stress produced between the abrasive and workpiece by using rheological property of MR fluids under the magnetic field. The method of MRF is of great flexibility and controllable compared with the traditional processing method. Because of the unique characteristic in rheological property of MR fluid, which has no effects on the physical and mechanical performance of the metal workpiece surface, so all kinds of complex surface of workpiece can be processed by the method.The main contents of this paper including as follow:understand the structure and preparation process of the MR fluid in order to make it meet the requirements of magneto-rheological finishing; Through the processing principle of research for metal materials of MR Finishing and the theoretical model, master the microscopic structure of the cutting workpiece in MR fluid to analyze and calculate the influence law and the size of the shear strength of fluid which lay a solid theoretical basis for following experiment; Through the design of the experimental equipment of MRF mechanism and analysis of technological parameters, a reasonable set of experimental device has been designed. It can be proved the feasibility of the device through the experiment, then the most representative reasonable experimental parameters have been gotten through the analysis of the dates got in process by using the method of Orthogonal experiment. Finally through the a large number of experiments and research on technological parameters of Magneto-rheological Finishing, the best technical parameters for specific materials have been found according to comprehensive analysis of influence law of the parameters.Through the above theory research and experimental data, the best technical parameters for metal materials 45# steel has been gotten in this experiment, the value of surface roughness of workpiece can reach minimum of 0.2 microns in a certain process parameters.
