Study On The Preparation Of New Stern Tube Oil

The consumption of marine oil takes up about 40% of the total amount of lubricating oil, so it is very necessary and important to develop new typies of lubricating oil. In this paper, the using and research of stern tube oil at home and abroad are described, and the theory of emulsion and emulsifier selection methods are introduced. The quality of stern tube oil will decline when water enters into stern tube. But if the the stern tube oil can be easily emulsified with water and the property can still keep the same, which will be more economical. In order to prepare such oil, the methods of HLB value and uniform design are studied.The experimental results show that the method of HLB is a good way to select emulsifiers and it saves lots of time. The using of one hydrophilic emulsifier and one lipophilic emulsifier is better than using a single emulsifier. The best formula is M-B-A(0.360:0.552:0.087), and it is found through uniform design. The emulsified oil still has good stability; correlativity of viscosity-temperature; extreme pressure anti-wear and anti-rust.
