With the better renewable and biodegradability performance, the starch as an ideal green material is to be one of major bio-chemical raw materials. We need to modify starch such as oxidation, esterification, etc, to expand its applications. The oxidized degree of starch directly affects its physical and chemical properties, thus it is very important to oxidized starch products.Based on the oxidized starch-iodine complex absorption spectral characteristics, the research plans to detect the oxidized degree of starch using spectrophotometry.According to absorbance and carbonyl content of different oxidized starches, a working curve was made to calculate the regression equation and to make sure their linear relationship for further. With those a method of spectrophotometry with starch-iodine composite for oxidized degree of starch was developed. The research prepares the oxidized starch which uses corn starch and pre-irradiation starch as raw materials, H2O2 as oxidizer and FeSO4ยท7H2O as catalyst. The pre-irradiation starch was dealed with 10KGy dose and irradiation time of 24h by 60Coy-ray. Factors affecting the reaction were studied, such as H2O2 dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time and amount of catalyst,to obtain the better reaction conditions. Compared to the original starch, pre-irradiation starch as raw material, its oxidation efficiency is only slightly impproved and the effect is not particularly desirable. The irradiated starch, oxidized starch and pre-irradiation starch were characterized by IR,XRD and DSC.Starch carbamate is synthesized by oxidized corn starch and urea using a solid-state technique which is catalysted by ammonium chloride. The production possesses moisture, internal plasticization and complex functions with the introduction of carbamate, which is applied to textile and paper industry and has potential applications in envirinmental protection. Compared with the native starch, the oxidized corn starch as raw material, effectively improves the nitrogen content of the product, degree of substitution, reaction efficiency of urea and bonding strength. The research optimized the synthesis conditions by orthogonal test and single-factor test. The analysis tools such as IR,XRD and DSC were utilized to characterize the starch carbamate.
