Caffeine needs to decolor and refine using active carbon in the production process, and can produce waste activated carbon that contains caffeine.the ingredients of this waste carbon is complex and difficult to regenerate,it is difficult to achieve carbon regeneration and caffeine recovery simultaneously. According to the characteristics of activated carbon ,the study explored the process of treatment waste activated carbon containing caffeine using far-infrared thermal regeneration.Activated carbon heating experiments was researched by contrasting resistance wire, direct electricity and far infrared heating mode , discussed the influence of heating mode on heating rate of and the temperature distribution of activated carbon, and the results show that the infrared heating can realize the rapid increase of activated evenly. Studied on the temperature-rise rule of activated carbon, and obtained the temperature rise rate equation by experiment at different stages of the heating.This paper studied the effects of possible factors of activated carbon containing caffeine. And analysised various factors(temperature,regeneration time,carbon layer thickness,gas velocity) on the regeneration of activated carbon to obtain the optimum process conditions were: temperature 650℃, the regeneration time was 180min, the carrier gas velocity was 0.002m/s, carbon layer thickness of 0.1m. Under these conditions, activated carbon regeneration rates of up to 90.3%.It studied the regeneration process of mass transfer of caffeine desorption kinetics, By experiments in the regeneration of the constant kinetic equation obtained caffeine desorption kinetic equation: q=0.301[1-exp(-0.2570t-1.3586)]Compared theoretical calculation with experimental value(The theoretical calculation error was 5.5%),Verify the regeneration of the established dynamic equations is reasonable. The pore structure of activated carbon before and after regeneration were characterized. Determined the adsorption isotherms of activated carbon on optimum conditions to determine the activated carbon surface area and pore size distribution changes, scanning electron microscope was used to analysis microstructure before and after regeneration of activated carbon. The results showed that: surface area of renewable carbon was smaller , the number of holes increased ,the surface roughness increased, part of the pore was burned ,and the damage degree become serious as regeneration frequency increased...
