In recent years, China's steel industry is developing remarkably, but it is based on high consumption and high pollution. Because China's smelting technology is not mature enough, that result in a waste of raw materials and the loss of the furnace. If we can improve our smelting technology to improve furnace life, that will greatly enhance the smelting efficiency, while saving our existing resources.In this paper, we take AOD furnace for example, do two aspects of the tilting control to improve its life. One is to control the furnace in the smelting process, we make the furnace format a back angle, forcing gas flow leave the rear wall of the furnace, that will reduce the furnace wall erosion to a minimum. Then if we can quickly and accurately control the tilting furnace during the feeding and dumping time, it can reduce the hot metal in the furnace residence time, that can also improve furnace life. In this paper, we take the asynchronous motor to control the AOD furnace tilting, then we analysis the characteristics of vector control and direct torque control, then we chosen the vector control. On account of the characteristics of AOD furnace, we design a fuzzy controller to control the furnace titling to improve the life of it. We use the slow but accurate control rules when we want to control the furnace generate a back angle, other time we use the other control rules to make the dumpage process to be fast while preventing splashing. Tilting the AOD furnace control system is based on the industrial field, a single furnace iron can be over 10t, the drive motor are dozens or even hundreds of kilowatts large motors. Due to the limited experimental conditions, we can not practically test and experiment, so we choose a motor to simulation. Use a high-speed digital signal processor, DSP2812, to be the core control chip to complete the SVPWM algorithm. We get motor speed to analysis the actual location of the furnace then determine which control mode we choice the current time, commands to control the tilting furnace based on test results. Finally, we use Matlab to simulate the well-established model of tilting control system, the results prove the accuracy of the fuzzy control system. The accuracy control of the system can reduce the erosion of gas to the furnace wall, and make the AOD furnace used for longer time.
