Based on the comprehensive development of electrochemical analysis, biosensors, ultra micro-electrode and biochemical detection, the multi-channel electrochemistry instruments have been more widely used in the fields such as bioanalytical, pharmaceutical, and clinical application. The design and research on the 96-channel electrochemistry instrument is introduced in the paper.According to the system performance and technical specifications of the instrument, the overall solution of the 96-channel electrochemistry instrument is proposed first in the paper. Base on this, the hardware and software design of the instrument are presented. Based on the system architecture combined with the subboard and motherboard, the hardware design, which is make up of the measurement circuit of weak current, the potentiostat, the data acquisition module, CPLD, the microcontroller module, the interfaces of the instrument and so on, is given in detail; while the design of the microprocessor programme. CPLD programme, USB driver, USB firmware and Windows application programme has been introduced in this paper. Finally, the performance evaluation of the current detection and electrochemical experiments (CV and I-T) has been completed by respectively adopted Keithley 6221 precision DC and AC current source and K3Fe(CN)6 solution. The test results of designed instrument have been indicated the higher precision of current detection and channel consistency, the excellent frequency response characteristics and the performance of electrochemical measurement in CV and I-T correspond to that of CHI630B electrochemical workstation. Therefore, the designed instrument meets the requirements of technical specifications adequately in the current detection and electrochemical measurement.
