Treating technology for the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade is a common technology problem in the highway engineering reconstruction. With the rapid development of modern highway and the growing demand of Low-carbon and environmental protection, creative use of existing subgrade is the prior consideration of highway project decisions. In the highway reconstruction, the treating technology for the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade is one of the key factors in the project management and implementation.Based on the MOC traffic project "Treating Technology for the Connecting Part between the New and the Existing Subgrade", the paper makes a classification of the connection types of between the new and the existing subgrade, including 17 categories of 36 modes. With an analysis of subgrade widening engineering diseases and causes, uncoordinated deformation is the major cause. According to the correspondent calculation models, highway design index and parameters are made to analyze the mechanical response and damage modes of the uncoordinated deformation of highway subgrade due to the pavement structure. And the relative design theory and methodology, construction technology and rules, and acceptance standard are made to ensure the construction control and quality requirements of the treating technology for the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade tested by the test section of support construction. With the project planning, field implementation, periodic monitoring, data analysis, and effect evaluation of support construction, formation mechanism of uncoordinated deformation, design theory and methodology of uncoordinated deformation control, and construction quality control measures are made in terms of the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade to provide the scientific standard and methods and fill in the tech gap for the highway subgrade widening engineering reconstruction. The research is applied in the highway subgrade widening engineering, and also lays a foundation for the regulation of the highway subgrade widening engineering.The paper exemplifies the reconstruction engineering of Shaanxi provincial second-class highway, analogizes the different methods to cope with the likely diseases the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade, and takes a trace monitoring of the actual effects of different methods. Due to the regulated construction procedures and joint efforts of research team, the project research has broad prospects and notable economic effects. And the research of the uncoordinated deformation control of highway subgrade widening engineering and treating technology for the connecting part between the new and the existing subgrade are proved to be scientific, reliable and effective.
