| Now days traffic congestion is one of the main societal and economical problems in industrialized countries. It requires a clear understanding of traffic flow operations for people to solve this problem. For this purpose, during the last sixty years, a wide range of traffic flow models have been developed to solve the traffic problems. This paper mainly studies the applications of computational fluid dynamical methods for the traffic flow model. The selected traffic flow model is Aw-Rascle model which was developed by A. Aw and R. Rascle. They simply replace the space derivative with a convective derivative, and they show that this very simple modification completely resolves the inconsistencies which were discovered by Daganzo. The paper analyzed the characteristics of the Aw-Rascle model. Its hyperbolicity was proved and systems of hyperbolic conservation laws of the form were given. The wave properties of the model, which include shock wave, contact wave and rarefaction wave, were respectly studied with Generalised Riemann Invariants and Rankine-Hugoniot Conditions. CWENO scheme was used to simulate the different traffic flow phenomenon. The Matlab software was utilized to program. Satisfactory results were obtained. |
