Rapid development of society and frequent natural disasters make fire rescue more and more important. However, the development of fire reconnaissance and rescue equipment is still lagging behind. So Fire Rescue needs more sophisticated equipment. Development in electronic technology and communication technology promote the development of new reconnaissance and rescue equipment. According to the requirements of modern fire fighting techniques, this paper presents a new class of fire reconnaissance equipment called Fire Fighting Reconnaissance System, and analyzes the key technologies and implementation of the system. The system has been successfully developed and run well.Firefighters can wear the Fire Fighting Reconnaissance System developed in this paper to enter the disaster site when a fire or other disaster happens. The system can help to reconnaissance disaster site, find trapped and fire point and communicate with command experts and so on. The system consists of thermal image acquisition device, built-in eyepiece display mask, audio and video compression unit, human positioning and posture recognition module, rear display platform. Thermal image acquisition device can get thermal images without being affected by darkness, smoke and fog. Thermal images showed on the built-in display help firefighters to work in low visibility environments.The system can compress thermal images and transmit it to the rear display platform through the wireless communication network. Rear display platform decompress the compressed images and show it on a screen for command experts. The system can also create voice communications between command experts and firefighters, monitor firefighters'location and body posture such as walking, running, climbing and so on in the fire environment. So firefighters can get timely help when in danger. Rear display platform category show information received through emergency communication network and can measure temperature of objects through thermal images.Key technology of this system includes application of thermal camera, posture recognition and personnel positioning technology, communication network system, audio and video compression and display technology and other types of technology. Thermal image information obtained by thermal camera is used for thermal image searching and also for the system to achieve the measurement of body temperature of objects in the environment. By using posture recognition method based on inertial measurement sensors and personnel positioning technology based on RFID, the system can get the information of firefighters'personnel posture and working place. So fire command experts can organize a help for members in danger. Communication network of the system is a fire-specific band (350MHz) high-bandwidth wireless digital communication system. By using fiber optic communications and 3G networks, this communication network scheme can ensure smooth audio and video communications in more complex environments. To achieve image decompression display, the system uses a variety of ways like built-in eyepiece display mask, rear display platform, mobile terminals and so on.Prototype of the system has been assembled Successful and tried to be use in the firefighting brigade. And the system can basically meet the application requirements in high buildings, basement, large storage and so on. Besides, research of this topic can also provide reference to the development of such equipment.
