The traditional suspension systems included EMS and EDS systems. Because there were obvious shortcomings in these systems, people began to study hybrid suspension systems. With the improvement of high temperature superconductor materials, the suspension system with hybrid electromagnets made of high temperature superconductor coil and normal conductor coil is becoming hot research. In this paper, a low voltage and great current power supply which is used for high temperature superconductor coil of hybrid EMS system is designed.High temperature superconductor coil mainly uses the superconductivity of the high temperature superconductor materials, so great current can through the coil at low temperature to achieve low energy consumption when providing the suspension system with large levitation force. In order to meet the requirement of the electromagnetic suspension system, a low voltage and great current power supply which output voltage is continuously adjustable need to be developed. In this paper, a low voltage and great current power supply which output voltage is adjustable 0~5V and the maximum output current is up to 50A is designed.At the beginning,this paper describes the working principle and the control model of the half-bridge DC-DC converter. Then.the main circuit modules, high-frequency transformer modules, input and output filtering circuit modules, control circuit modules, and the protection circuit modules are designed. SG3525 is the core of the control circuit modules. It uses voltage control mode, though regulate the value of the reference voltage, can gain continuously adjustable output voltage. The input modules use EMI filtering circuits, the output modules use LC filtering circuits. The protection modules use output over-voltage output over-current protection circuits. A special auxiliary power supply is used to supply the control circuit modules. to ensure the stability of the circuits.By testing the output of the power supply, verify the half-bridge converter topology is suitable for low voltage and great current switching power supply. This power supply can supply high temperature superconductor coil successfully. The output voltage is low, the output current is great, and the power consumption is low. As the experimental results showing, the design has been proved reasonable.
