With the development of the railway industry and people's safety awareness, the safety of railway vehicles has become a main considerations in the design and manufacturing process.If collision happened during the operation of railway vehicles, The safety of passengers will inevitably be threatened.After studying the reasons and consequences of the railway vehicle accidents, this paper draw a conclusion that the research on passive safety of railway vehicle is of practical significance.Passive safety technology considers both the collisions scene in the operation of railway vehicle that could occur on the line of rolling stock and also the vehicle structural factors, through setting special energy absorption device at the end of the vehicle body and improving the impact resistance performance, the impact resistance ability is improved. In railway vehicle research, vehicle body design, component assembly form, welding simulation, material parameters affect the simulation accuracy. This paper compares energy absorption-weight ratio and the interface force of several common forms of thin-walled structure and get a result that multiple cell structure has the best collision performance. By comparing four kinds of welding simulation which are commonly used in modeling treatment based on the standard of welding technology. welding simulation methods of railway vehicle modeling is selected.Coupler and draft gear is the basic component and also one of most important structure set in vehicles. The role of is coupler and draft gear is linking the vehicles set and releasing the effect caused by longitudinal impact. By analyzing the common shape and structure, materials and failure modes of the coupler and draft gear. the equivalent model is established in ANSYS and the impact performance is verified. A quarter of the locomotive body finite element model is established, three different collision scenes is selected according to EN15227, the collision scene is simulated in LS-DYNA and get the results of the body, cab, coupler and draft gear device in collisions scene. Finally shunting conditions of railway vehicle is analyzed, the result shows that the combination of the end-of-car energy absorption device, the equivalent model of coupler and draft gear can effectively protect the vehicle body from damage.
