As one of the main type ships, container ship plays an important role in the international shipping market. So, it is important and necessary to think multidisciplinary and multi-objective optimization about the ship structural design. Vessel must meet all kinds of performance needs, such as function requirements, economic characteristics, strength requirements and technical requirements. In this thesis, by comprehensive consideration static and dynamic requirements, some research had been done on the structure optimization design of a container ship.The major research is show as following:1. The history, contents, status quo of research and the prospect of optimum ship structural design are discussed systematically.2. The 3D finite element model of a container ship was built. The additional water mass,surface force on bottom caused by propeller, thrust fluctuation and external moment of main engine were calculated.3. Modal participation technology was used to extraction main model of a complex framed plate structure. The real eigenvalue analysis and transient response were done on the ballast conditions. The results showed that this ship has good dynamic performance.4. The fuzzy comprehensive analysis method which was used to evaluation design variables for MDO is based on the sensitivity. The computational methods of sensitivity about static and dynamic responses were studied. Research shows fuzzy comprehensive analysis method is a simple, has a strong operational for choosing the variables for MDO.5. The basic conception,architecture and mathematical model of collaborative optimization (CO) are discussed.Both of the advantages and disadvantages of CO are analyzed. Present some improved CO and multi-objective reduce collaborative optimization is proposed. A NASA numerical example is used to verify MRCO's reliability.6. A model comprehensive consideration static and dynamic response was constructed. One example was used to verify the reliability of this model. Then, static and dynamic CO model were used in a container ship structural optimization design. The results indicated that this model is well for engineering structure optimization.
