With the accelerated process of industrialization, gaseous hazardous materials, as raw materials or accessory materials, are in the growing demand in industry. Therefore, the transportation pressure is constantly increasing. Meanwhile, severe security situation is faced in the transport of toxic gases.Starting with the necessity of the study, this thesis generally introduces related researches, such as the domestic and international management situation, toxic gas dispersion models and software development. Secondly, by the theory of hazard identification and fault tree analysis (FTA), the hazards of toxic materials released from road tank car are identified, as well as potential inherent risk factors in transportation are analyzed. Thirdly, based on the influencing factors, a description of the models for leakage and dispersion is outlined. Gaussian plume, puff models and the model when transportable hazards are moving, are thoroughly introduced. Thereby, the author proposes that Gaussian line-source dispersion model widely used in vehicle emission is also applicable to simulate toxic gas dispersion, which is the main outcome of this work.According to accident-prone factors obtained from the structure importance, combined with the states of tank, leakage phases, four scenarios of Liquid Chlorine leakage accidents from road tank car are studied:instantaneous leak, continuous leak (liquid), continuous leak (vapor), continuous leak when the tank car is moving. Finally, simulate and analyze the dispersion of toxic gas clouds in four scenarios based on Matlab. This article made a detailed study in the transport of toxic gas leakage accidents, not only providing some reference for hazardous materials transport company and management department, but also providing the theory basis for accident prediction and emergency rescure, which has a certain practical and instructive signification.
