This paper comes from major research project of the national "863 Program" (No. 2006AA06A207), the content is a low power, portable neutron probe.Neutron is an important signal in nuclear physics as well as in nuclear experiments and geophysical exploration. Except for China Radiation Institute and Beijing Institute of Nuclear Radiation Instrument there is few manufacturer of neutron Instrument, and most of them proxy United States, France, Japan and other countries'products. Most of the domestic neutron Instrument are mainly used for radiation safety testing generally and can not be used to measure other rays. When turn to energy detect range, domestic netron instrument's lowest detect threshold is more hinger than the foreign products, typically more than a dozen keV, (foreign products are generally at several percent keV), and sometimes can not completely remove theγ-ray's interference.Considering the current application situation and on-site testing requirements of neutron probe, this paper launched a neutron dosimeter based on AT89S52 MCU. Lithium-glass scintillator probe CHR202 of Beijing Hamamatsu Photon Technology Co., Ltd connected with the host. In order to meet the portable,low power consuming,high precision,on-site inspection and other requirements, we using a low power consumption,strong anti-interference,resource-rich as the microprocessor AT89S52 microcontroller.Main results obtained:1,Deal better with different energy section ofγ-ray's interference by the combine use of a thin detector and a ation of pulse amplitude discriminator and chieved the neutron information extracting goal in mixedγ-neutron radiation field.2,Based on the AT89S52 microcontroller, we developed key components,data collection,communication and results display of neutron measuring instrument.3,Low-power design makes the whole power consumption less than 500mW.4,Technical indicators: energy response range from 25keV to 5MeV, the neutron sensitivity of 1.5 cps /μSv / h, use temperature range from -10℃to +40℃, relative humidity reched to 90%.This research has a good practical value and will creat a good condition for the promotion for the localization of neutron probe and its application.
