In recent years, the problems of ordinary concrete such as crack and brittle and anti-permeability become more and more prominent in engineering practice. So the structure safety and durability are threatened, and people put forward kinds of methods to improve the concrete properties.Though continuous research on concrete, people find that fiber has a good function to modifiy the status of concrete, and the position of fiber reinforced concrete become more and more important.At present, the practical application of fibrous concrete mainly include steel fiber reinforced concrete, polypropylene fiber concrete and nylon fibre concrete. At the same time, poly vinyl alcohol fiber and basalt fiber with its good mechanical performance character are gradually considered as good concrete modified fibers. At present, the research about poly vinyl alcohol fiber reinforced concrete and basalt fiber reinforced concrete was deficient, so strengthen this kind of study can promote fiber reinforced concrete technology and the development of engineering application.Based on consulting the research and development of fiber concrete in and abroad, the development status and prospects of fiber reinforced concrete are cleared. Meanwhile, two enhancement mechanism theories of fiber reinforced concrete are analysed, which named composite material theory and fiber spacing theory. Based on the mechanism, fiber reinforced concrete was analysised. Through the experimental study of poly vinyl alcohol fiber, basalt fiber and mixed poly vinyl alcohol alcohol-basalt fiber concrete, the mechanics properties of them were got as the following conclusions:①Fiber reinforced concrete performance significantly better than the ordinary concrete;②Hybrid effect of fiber plays a good role in reinforcing concrete, and the mechanics performance of composite fiber reinforced concrete was superior to the single fiber reinforced concrete, and more than ordinary concrete;③Poly vinyl alcohol—basalt composite fiber concrete has excellent mechanical properties.
