Along with the evolution of arch bridge, many reinforced concrete arch bridges have been built in China territory in the 20th century. Recently, the traffic flow rose sharply and heavy-loaded vehicles increased dramatically and on the other hand, the aging, damage and outdated design of the existing arch bridges are hard to meet the demands of nowadays traffic and transportation development. The maintenance and reinforcement of those arch bridges is becoming the key objective in coming years in order to avoid enormous wastes resulting from disassembly and reconstruction of those arch bridges. Owing to such factors as load unsureness and structure uncertainty of arch bridges, the process monitoring of reinforced construction is therefore adopted and the effect of reinforcement is assessed afterwards to ensure the safety and achieve the good effect of reinforced construction.The theory and technological application of assessment and research on construction control and its effects of reinforced concrete arch bridge with large-span is studied in this paper. Taking the Jialingjiang Bridge in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province as example, the process monitoring/controlling of reinforced construction of large-span arch bridge is studied and key points of control system are analyzed based on the features, common diseases and its causes of arch bridges in combination with the theory of construction control of arch bridge. The FEA software MIDAS was applied to simulating and analyzing of maintenance construction of Jialingjiang Bridge and furthermore, the monitoring and comparative analysis in the process of construction was theoretically conducted in site. While the reinforced construction is accomplished, the effects of reinforced construction are assessed on the basis of loading tests.The results derived from studies and analyses in this paper can be used as references for assessment and research on construction control and its effects of reinforced concrete arch bridge with large-span in similar condition.
