With the rapid development of high dam construction in china, the energy dissipation problem of sluice structure has become more and more prominent. In water conservancy and hydropower project, outlet works are a key for the safety of reservoirs. Energy dissipation problem has been always encouraged to research. With the construction of the high head and large discharge structures, as a highly efficient energy dissipation training, narrow slit energy dissipater has been successfully used in high sluice structure in domestic and international.Analysis on the geological conditions and operation characteristics of the downstream of diversion tunnel which also working as the flood discharge tunnel was carried out based on the model experiment of SIMUTASI hydropower station, Therefore the Y-shaped narrow slit energy dissipater is proposed. On the basic of research results which collect on narrow slit energy dissipater both here and abroad,to further study and discuss the hydraulic characteristics of Y-shaped narrow slit energy dissipater and to sluice tunnel of SIMUTASI Hydropower Station for the object,which adopted the method of combination the physical model and three-dimensional numerical simulation test for a more in-depth study.Adopted 1:30 monomer hydraulic model of physica l model, by means of the observation of hydraulic characters like velocity, pressure, nappe shape etc at different working conditions through model experiment, it is proved after analysis that the hydraulic characteristics of Y-shaped narrow slit energy dissipater is better and the efficiency of energy dissipation is significant, which means it is applicable for engineering practice.By the means of the standard kεtwo-equation turbulence model and the fractional volume of the fluid (VOF) model, the flow field characteristics of the Y-shaped slit-type energy dissipater are simulated successfully。The location of the free water surface along the spillway, the water jets entry, the pressure on the sidewall are obtained by this simulation. The comparison with the test value shows that the accuracy of this simulation meet the expected demand and the results are satisfactory. It provides a reliable basis for the design and optimization of SIMUTASI Hydropower Station.In words, that SIMUTASI hydropower station adopts Y-shaped slit-type energy dissipater solves the discharge and dissipation issues, for example, the high head and the large unit-wide discharge, and so on. Its application designs are referenced for similar projects.
