The optimal scheduling of hydrothermal power system is a complex issue. But because of its significant economic benefits it has aroused general interest.It means to get a rational allocation output of hydropower and the thermal power through the optimization criteria under certain conditions to achieve predetermined goals. Goals include not only the amount of income, such as conventional income,but also can include new factors such as environmental factors,water value factors.Therefore, the optimization model through different starting point can be assigned a variety of different optimization results, which makes the optimal operation of hydrothermal power system of great significance.Most of the traditional economic dispatch of hydrothermal system is to get the maximum profit or the minimum fuel consumption under the premise that the output of hydrothermal system meets the total load.This kind of optimization can not meet the current operation requirements of social and environmental for energy and environment. While the traditional optimal scheduling models consider less about the value of water resources and the operating characteristics of water and thermal units, it can not meet the complex requirements of social.In response to these shortcomings,a comprehensive hydrothermal optimal scheduling model is proposed in this paper. This model makes maximum income as basic objective, while considering saving energy and reducing emissions of the thermal power units, the characteristics of thermal power units and the value of reservoir storage. According to the impacts of these factors on the power generation benefit, the result of this optimal scheduling program is got. This optimal scheduling model not only meets the "saving energy and reducing emission" requirements, but also saves a lot of energy and has great economic and social benefits with appropriate reduction of thermal power units under the premise of guaranteeing the other benefits.Besides, considering the value of reservoir water in the hydro-thermal scheduling optimization has an important role in guiding the economical use of water resources.The fuzzy approach who has high degree of accuracy and improved differential evolution algorithm are used to solve the comprehensive optimal scheduling model.Firstly, the determinstic objective is made into fuzzy objective through the membership function and the multi-objective optimization problem is made into single objective optimization problem through the maximum satisfaction method. The penalty function method is used to deal with the constraints. Finally, particle swarm algorithm and differential evolution algorithm which pulls in enhancement operator and chaotic searching are used to solve the functions. The simulation results show that the model is reasonable and the algorithm is effective.
