As the population, resources and environment have become the top three major issues of the world, energy conservation, environmental protection are hot issues of today's construction industry and sustainable development has become a basic national policy. As a result, the clay brick leave the stage of history, and with the adjustment of national policy, a large number of new wall materials have emerged of which autoclaved lightweight aerated concrete has been focused on as a set of new wall materials with light weight, large thermal resistance, workability, waste utilization, environmental protection and other advantages. However, due to full of closed"ink bottle"structural pores in autoclaved aerated concrete, the problems in autoclaved aerated concrete block are gradually presented in the actual project, such as cracking of the wall deformation, wall finishes level off, fall in thermal insulation properties which have seriously affected the usage and appearance of the building that hinder the promotion of autoclaved aerated concrete. In this paper, it discusses the performance of autoclaved aerated concrete as a comprehensive system and some solutions have been presented in engineering applications which pave the way for further promotion of autoclaved aerated concrete.First and foremost, based on the experimental study on the autoclaved aerated concrete pore structure, influences of water ratio on the compressive strength and the autoclaved aerated concrete block splitting tensile strength and static elastic modulus, this paper introduces the mechanical properties test research to the autoclaved aerated concrete block mechanical properties test research. Functional relationship in mechanical properties between water ratio and the autoclaved aerated concrete is obtained by means of regression analysis. In addition, some suggestions are put forward based on the problems in actual project. Then, this paper explores the autoclaved aerated concrete block hot wet properties test. This part studies the main thermal performance index in the autoclaved aerated concrete block (coefficient of thermal conductivity, heat transfer coefficient and heat storage coefficient) which is used to evaluation of its thermal insulation property and research of the isothermal moisture absorption properties and surface moisture absorption process. The experimental results show that the autoclaved aerated concrete thermal conductivity has been great influenced by water ratio and the autoclaved aerated concrete has a good self-humidity-control performance.
