Automobile manufacturing has a far-reaching impact on the national economy, looking through the historical era in automobile industry of the developed countries, there is a positive correlation between GDP and car ownership. Being faced with competition from international auto giants, China's car manufacturers have to catch up not only in manufacturing technology but also in management technology. Stamping job shop is the first link in vehicle manufacturing; its production efficiency and the ability to supply the downstream restrict the development of the enterprises. The efficiency of the vehicle manufacturers can be improved by raising the stamping shop scheduling management.In this paper, the stamping job shop is taken as a research object and the production scheduling model is established by analyzing the characteristics of the press shop. Then, the corresponding algorithm is designed to solve the scheduling problem.Firstly, the vehicle manufacturer's production planning model is analyzed and the stamping plant's production process is researched in order to clear the differences between press shop and the other three production shop. Thus, the scheduling model is established to minimize the makespan. The model adjustment time and the stampings'transit time are also introduced into the model to make it more practical.Then the genetic algorithm has been improved to solve the model. Population initialization method is proposed, which combined with random selection and priority dispatching rule based on the shortest processing time. Operators such as chromosome encoding, crossover and mutation have been improved. An example of the simulation shows that these results are better than the other models which didn't take transportation time and adjusting time into consideration. Finally, considering the actual production press shop, functional requirements of the stamping job shop scheduling system are analyzed and the soft architecture is designed. Then, the actual JAC press shop scheduling system is developed and integrated into the whole MES system. The results show that the WIP in stamping shop is reduced by 30%.
