The performance of CNC machine tool mainly depends on the spindle drive system. The spindle motor is a core component of the spindle drive system. Rational choice the motor type and design the motor parameters, to improve the motor power density, reduce the motor size and moment of inertia, could improving the performance of CNC machine tools significantly.PMSM(Permanent magnet synchronous motor) with the advantages of high efficiency, power density, and convenience to achieve accurate control, prove to be an important research direction. CNC machine tools demands the spindle motor output larger torque at low speed and have wide constant power speed range at high speed. However, as flux weakening is difficult, The PMSM is restricted in the high-speed operation. Improving the ability in flux weakening, and increasing the constant power speed range of PMSM became the important research field of PMSM.This paper based on the basic weakening control strategy, analysis the effect on PMSM performance of different no-load PM flux linkage and motor inductance.Optimize the conventional IPM rotor structure, choose the segmented magnet rotor structure. Establish 2D model of the motor, analysis the effect on the parameters of the motor with different segment numbers, segment iron bridge and circle iron bridge. Analysis the effect on the air gap flux density with different structure of PM and pole shoes.According to the requirement and design principle of the spindle PMSM, developed motor electromagnetic program. Prototype has been designed by combining magnetic circuit and field analysis method.
