For the propeller of stern works in non-uniform flow field, there will be unsteady cavitations phenomenon. Cavitations will not only cause the stern vibration, but also will cause the blade cavitations erosion, noise, reduce the life of propeller and a series of harmful consequences, which have a great harm to the safety and the economy. So how to reduce the cavity is a one of the most important task of propeller design. The main research methods, including experimental method and theoretical method. As the traditional experimental method needs a lot of time and money to do performance test, but can't cover all of the propellers. Therefore, in order to reduce the costs, taking into account the efficiency of the propeller, cavitations, vibration, strength, etc. it can be used theoretical methods to design and optimize the propeller. So theoretical methods used to pre-report the hydrodynamic performance of the propeller is very important. At first, this article overview of the development of the propeller theory, and take a simple introduction about the lifting line theory, the lifting surface theory and the panel method. Then, using propeller lifting line theory to calculate the geometric theory parameters and the hydrodynamic parameters, calculated pressure distribution, thrust coefficient and torque system number with the lifting surface theory, using the panel method to calculate propeller thrust coefficient and torque coefficient. At last, using VB and the dynamic link library to produce the software. We achieved the following achievements through the work: firstly, by integration three different propeller theories, we can use it to compare, optimal and pre-reported propeller. Secondly, because the software is produced by VB, make it easy to operate, simple, and good practical.
