With the induction motor being widely used in the development of national economy, structure of induction motor system is more and more complex . Vibration and noise problems becomes more prominent and important with the induction motor being widely used. Modal analysis on motor have been done by FEM business software. vibration behavior of stator, rotor and stator - rotor coupled system have been detailed studied. Comparison of calculation results and experimental results are verified. Major work and results obtained are as follows.(1) Basic knowledge and the history of the motor is brief described, main problems existing in the application process is also brief described. Present situation and major problem of study on vibration characteristics of induction motor is also described.(2) Natural frequency and vibration mode of free and constraint stator are computed by FEM. The effect of different finite element modeling methods on natural frequency is studied. Studies show that the effect of radiating ribs and enhanced ribs and feet on mode shapes and the influence of laminated on natural frequency should be investigated systematically when we construct finite element model of motor. The improvement measures on the design of the stator is posed.(3) Natural frequency and vibration mode of free and constraint rotor are computed by FEM. The effect of bearing stiffness and rigidity of the rotor core on natural frequency is studied. Studies show that bearing stiffness and rigidity of the rotor core have a great effect on natural frequency. The improvement measures on the design of the rotor is posed.(4) Natural frequency and vibration mode of free and constraint stator - rotor coupled system are computed by FEM.
