The large launch vehicle has a feature of big weight and dimension, and its whole assembly precision has to meet high standards. Stage is the key part that constructs the vehicle body. Its joint precision affects the whole launcher's assembly precision and quality. While, the auto-joint technique compared with manual joining, has both advantage in joint precision and efficiency. Meanwhile, the key technique of auto-joint can apply in both joint assembly of large launch vehicle and other large parts'assembly, as airplane auto assembly. Therefore, research of auto-joint technique of large launch vehicle has a significant significance.First, the temporary situation of the general assembly of large launch vehicle has been introduced in this thesis. And then the auto-joint technique has been analyzed and the auto-joint model of large launch vehicle has been established. The measuring method in the auto-joint process has been mainly analyzed and then the characters of rocket body have been analyzed and its CAD model is built. And then, the relation between the coordinate conversion matrix and body's status is mostly studied.Then, the auto-joint plan is designed. And two measuring methods, respectively based on laser tracker and indoor GPS, are studied and the comparison and choice have been made. And the key techniques of the auto-joint including the station-move of the laser tracker are given in details. And the key component for auto-joint technique, mechanical adjustment structure, has also been designed.At last, the main issues that influence the auto-joint precision are analyzed. Then with launcher's stage's real dimension taken into accounts, Solidworks is utilized to do the auto-joint experimental simulation and the result is analyzed, with the auto-joint's whole uncertainty given. The simulation results indicate that the auto-joint plan given in this thesis has a high assembly precision and its joint uncertainty could satisfy the precision requirements of the real products.
