The exhaust noise of motorcycle engine is one of the main noise source of motorcycle noise, the effective measures to control exhaust noise is using exhaust muffler in exhaust system. Designing a muffler with high anechoic performance and low resistance loss has become an important subject on exhaust noise control.Exhaust noise separation test can get their respective contribution for the optimization of exhaust muffler, thus provide direction. Transmission loss and insertion loss, can effectively analyze the test of frequency domain of exhaust muffler attenuation volume, but to mathematical model is revised, when in design muffler is accurately calculate transmission loss and insertion loss. Noise order times analysis of test in an accelerated engine test bench can effectively analyze the exhaust noise and engine rotating incentive relations and other structure resonance of the noise. The design goals of exhaust muffler was established and the problems of exhaust muffler was find by these testing.Structure resonance cause larger shell radiation noise had been found by experiment including separation exhaust noise, transmission loss, insertion loss and analysis order times of accelerating noise on exhaust muffler of LX150 motorcycle.According to the test results, the design of the muffler has been optimized and the structure of the muffler has been improved. Using respective advantage of SYSNOISE and GT-power to Muffler model and the engine model united numerical simulated.Through the simulation results, we adopted a plan and we have trial-produced the muffler. The design goals were met by matching engine performance test and Accelerating noise test . The noise emitted of LX150 motorcycle meet limit noise of National standards.
