With the rising environmental consciousness and the increasing of energy scarcity in recent years, LED (Light Emitting Diode) light source, as a new generation, is gradually replacing traditional light source in the application of illumination. Traditional surgical luminaire uses a halogen lamp and reflects the rays to the surgical position with the multi-facet reflector. The halogen lamp is short lifetime which includes UV to infrared radiation. So when a patient is exposed to a halogen lamp over an extended period of time, the patient would feel uncomfortable because of heat and it would result in injury to the patient's skin and surgical operation part. The LED lamp, as a cold light, is low temperature, low power consumption, long lifetime and wavelength controllable. Because the LED has more advantages than the halogen lamp, This thesis researches the application of the LED to the surguical luminaire.This thesis, using non-image optics theory, develops one LED surguical luminaire. This main works are shown below:First of all,base knowledge of non-image optics , optical design of light emitting diodes and photometry parameters were briefly expatiated, the main function of the illumination software LightTools were introduced, the principle and the method of the ray tracing were discussed.Then, the project of TIR(Total Internal Reflection) was proposed based on the principle and the specifications of the operation shadowless lamp, the efficiency and the uniformity were optimized by the software LightTools. The surguical luminaire is constituted with the 16×4 lens array, the distance and angle of the lens array were test by simulation, the tolerance analysis and the simulation test were finished with the LightTools.Finally, the sample of LED surguical luminaire was developed, the practical test was finished based on the test criterion of the surgical luminaire. The parameters of the practical test include the shadowless percentage with single shield and double shield, the the shadowless percentage in the deep pipe, the depth of the illumination. The result shows that the sample of LED surguical luminaire meet specifications.
