Constructions on soft clay ground will get widespread in socioal and economic development, and the characteristics of soft soil make engineering accidents constantly. One important reason of the engineering accidents is the creep characteristics of soft soil, so it is significative to research the creep characteristics of soft soil for the project in soft soil region.Combining with the long-term stability and operation safety researches of all kinds of structures and buildings in the soft soil area, the creep characteristics of soft soil are studied with the test methods, the creep characteristics of soft soil in Tianjin coastal region are analyzed, and the soft soil creep constitutive equation suited for coastal area is researched. The main work of the the artical are as follows:1. The laboratory tests of rheological characteristic of soft clay with one-way oedometer and improved direct shear apparatus are performed to reaseach the creep characeristics on the basis of papers abroad and in. The creep characteristics of Tianjin coastal region are pointed out by the curve results of the tests.2. Based on the 1-d consolidation test data, the relationship of the shear modulus and viscous coefficient with the time and the stress is simulated, proffering foundation for the creep constitutive model parameters.3. The triaxial creep characteristics are researched with the triaxial apparatus, finding that the load ratio, the confining pressure and the drainage conditions have some effect on the soft soil creep deformation characteristics.4. The methods to define the boundary of primary and secondary consolidation are discussed on the basis of the one dimensional compression test and triaxial compression test, pointing out the boundary is at t = 1h moments of one dimensiona test, but it is at t = 30min for triaxial conditions.5. The creep constitutive is established based on the analysis method of half experience and half theory model, and the parameters of the model is simulated.
