The vehicle ride comfort performance is based on the ISO standard about theevaluation of human exposure to whole body vibration by mechanical vibration andshock, and the GB methods about ride comfort performance evaluation. Usually, thereare three kinds of ride comfort performance evaluation tests that need to be done duringvehicle development process. The first method is random input running test whichevaluate vehicle ride comfort performance on regulated road, also, there are another twoimportant tests. One is the method of pulse input running test and the other is the methodof measure for natural frequency and damping ration. These three tests mean the rideperformance of a vehicle should be considered in many vehicle statuses, when thevehicle is running smoothly, passing a pulse and vibrating at some frequency.According to the evaluation result of the vehicle ride comfort performance, someimproved method can be made. Before real vehicles are produced, vehicle vibrationresults can be obtained from some simulation tests based on vehicle dynamical model.Vehicle dynamical model contains wheel model, suspension model, car body model andseat model. According to the result of simulation tests, it is clear that whether theimproved method can be satisfied or not.There could be several improved methods, all these methods should be compared,and the best one should be selected. The detail method can be done as below, adjustsuspension and seat stiffness coefficient and damping coefficient to reasonable values,adjust suspension location, then built a new vehicle dynamical model. According to themethod of random input running test and the method of pulse input running test, vehicletests can be done in the new vehicle model, the vehicle vibration can be outputted afterinputting simulated pulse or white noises to vehicle dynamical model, the new vibrationfrequency can be calculated from the new vehicle dynamical model. At the meanwhile, the result of simulation tests should be compared with the protocar tests to make sure the simulation tests are available, and then the result of simulationtests can be used to evaluate the improved methods. Finally, vehicle ride comfortperformance can be evaluated after these new vehicle dynamical model tests, and the bestimproved method can be selected out.This present improved method can be validated by the new proto car ride comfortperformance tests. Finally, it can be proved to be effective and reliable.Test data of pulse input and random input tests for proto car is proved that thevehicle dynamic models simulation tests can respond the real vibration situation, and canrightly show vehicle ride comfort performance in a certain trend. So, simulation testsresults can be used to evaluate the improved method and give early feedback of the newdesign performance. So, simulation test based on vehicle dynamic models can conductvehicle ride comfort performance improving and designing in a right direction.
