More and more earthquake damage s show that underground structures are notalways safe in earthquake, and can be suffered serious damage s. Metro is a main wayto solve the urban traffic congestion, and subway station is also a public space ofgreat population density, so the stability of subway station is directly related topeople's lives and property. Based on the studies of subway station , the dynamiccharacteristics and nonlinear seismic response of soil are analysed. Furthermore, inorder to provide meaningful conclusions for optimization and design of undergroundstructure , numerical simulation and vibration table model test of soil-undergoundsturcutre interaction are conducted in different conditions. The failure mechanism ofunderground structure s and nonlinear seismic response laws in earthquake arediscussed as well. The main contents are as follows:1. Based on finite element method and plan ar model of soil -structureinteraction, a practical seismic response analy tical method of soil-undergoundsturcutre interaction is presented, which can effectively consider the heterogeneityof quality and stiffness , and the nonlinear constitutive model of soil .2. Based on Marc secondary development , static Duncan Chang EB model anddynamic equivalence nonlinear viscoelastic model are added. And the effectivenessand reliability of secondary development are verified by two examples, which makeMarc become a useful tool of seismic response analysis method that suggestedabove .3. A subway station finite element model of soil-undergound sturcutreinteraction is establish ed by Marc secondary development to study the subwaystation embedded in the soft soil . Nonlinear seismic response laws of large subwaystation is studied while considering soil-undergound sturcutre interaction. Effects ofterrain are discusse d, which affect seismic response of subway station a lot.4. Large vibration table model tests of soil-undergound sturcutre interaction areconducted, including subway station model test in simple clay site and subwaystation model test in slope topography site. According to these test results , dynamicresponse of the underground structure and the surrounding soil are analy sed.
