Radial turbine with its compact structure, simple manufacturing process, high efficiency when the flow rate is low has been widely used in engineering. Radial turbine's design addresses not only the requirements such as power, efficiency, mass flow, but also the demands that avoiding the problems that steam crowds too much in the outlet of the impeller or else the vapor diffuses in the flow field when the blade numbers is either too large or too small, in order to improve the flow effect and enhance the turbine's working capacity. In this paper, the impact of the blade numbers on an existing industrial radial steam turbine is discussed by 3-d numerical simulation of the flow field in the impeller, and find that the number of blades on has great influence on the efficiency of radial turbine. This article focuses on the problem that the blade consistency is too large in the outlet, improved the impeller performance by adding splitters. Ultimately, a satisfactory result is achieved. By comparing the simulation results with different length and placement splitter blades in the impeller, the optimal length ratio and position is obtained and the flow characteristic of the stages is upgraded. The isentropic efficiency has increased 1.047% compared against the original. In the process of simulation, the discipline that regulating the installation angle is very effective in controlling the mass flow is obtained. Finally, a single-stage, transonic, integral intake, high load radial turbine is redesigned through thermodynamic calculation of the overall parameters of the original. The impeller strength is checked by the primary geometric parameters obtained, in order to supply the relevant for the selection of material manufacturing the turbine. A full three-dimensional simulation is applied in getting the characteristic of the flow field of the cascade and impeller utilizing CFD software. By adjusting the blade profile, the rational distribution of energy is get. and the blades could match each other better, and the mass flow of the turbine is regulated by controlling the area of the stator throat section.
