Ice coating on electric power transmission line is one of the most serious natural disasters for power system, accidents such as tower collapses, wire disconnection threat the safe and steady operation of power systems. With the cause of electric power developing fast, the structure of grid is more and more complex, the security and stability requirements of power network are more and more strictly, science and technology of electric power is becoming a comprehensive technology merged by multidisciplinary. Anti-icing technology is the basic method of preventing ice coating disasters. This paper carries researches on anti-icing technology of transmission line for several angles such as meteorology thermodynamics and specific tests.This paper carries researches on the process of thermal balance of ice coating theoretically on the basis of existing line ice coating growth model, establishes equation of thermal balance, establishes simulation model of minimum current which is needed to melting ice on line.By ice coating simulation experiments in artificial climate chamber, we study the ice coating growth law of overhead ground wire in the micro-meteorological condition, and in the specific weather condition, line LGJ-300's anti-icing terminate critical current, achieving the ice coating growth model and anti-icing terminate current in the micro-meteorological condition. The research combining with weather forecast can forecast the thickness of ice coating effectively in the following days, and basing on reasonable load allocation, can prevent ice coating effectively, and are applied in transmission line monitoring system in hunan province.This paper also analyzes the ice-coating reason in hunan province, summarizes the historical ice-coating reasons, introduces the applying situation of transmission line monitoring system in hunan province.
