The dynamic partitioning of traffic signal control network is a kind of technique which merges some crossings having significantly correlation into a same subarea, and supplies the result of partitioning to area traffic control system. Its main purpose is assisting traffic control system to unleash the traffic current pressure and increase the traffic efficiency. How to describe the relation between two adjacent crossings more accurately and improve the quality of partitioning is the main research area of partitioning of traffic signal control network.The domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of related work, but there are three problems as follow:1. The previous division technology of traffic signal control area only pays attention to the relation between two adjacent crossings in the same area, but ignore the possible congestion between different areas on boundary after partition.2. The previous division uses one or some kinds of traffic characteristics as the division index, however, leave out of considering the basis of coordination control and cannot accurately describe the internal relation between two adjacent crossings.3. For the new generation adaptive traffic signal control system can't widespread control, and it needs a kind of partition to limit area size to reduce the difficulty of large range control.For the three problems, we present the follow solutions:1. Put the two crossings into a same area between which congestion may occurred, and give congestion control. Through the analysis of the cause congestion, use the traffic wave theory to establish prevent boundary congested model based the relationship of traffic flow and road information.2. Establish the division index which can depict correlation more accurately between intersections. Based the traffic coordination control basis "unbalanced traffic flow", use team dissipation theory to establish the division index of the coordinability benefit.3. Combined with the division of the model of the boundary congestion and coordination benefit, give a kind of partition method which can limit the size of control area. Use the merging and multilevel K-way partitioning to realize the objective; then use redistributing to realize the dynamic partitioning.Finally, this paper gives the results of dynamic partitioning of traffic signal control network avoiding congestion and coordinating control. Besides the running time of the partitioning and analysis, it also includes the validation on the simulation platform VISSIM of the influence degree in the condition of congestion prevention between subareas.
