Stiffened panel is an important component of naval architecture and marine Engineering. Deterministic methods are commonly used under the current condition. This kind of method is mainly about peak load and least intensity. It's unable to avoid that marine environment is full of randomness, such as wave load, which can change with marine region, time and number, such as the resistance of naval architecture and marine engineering,which can change with size, material and process. So the theory of reliability based on random variables has been more and more popular. It is useful to find the optimal point in the precondition of reliability.In this paper, firstly, the failure modes of stiffened panel are analyzed. Then,the limit state functions are obtained to calculate the reliability index by checking method. The mathematical model of optimization with reliability index for stiffened panel is given. Adaptive evolutionary Strategy is used to optimize the weight of the stiffened panel. Comparing with the traditional optimization method, the results show that the algorithm is effective and the astringency is good.
