The safety of power network operation is the premise of building a strong and smart network. ZhoushanShengsi 110kV submarine cable provides the power supply to Shengsi, and its reliable operation is extremely important. For a length of more 30km submarine cable, the traditional monitoring methods are unable to achieve all-weather monitoring and to meet the needs for full management. Online comprehensive monitoring is applied on the project. The long-distance submarine cable monitoring problem is solved.A comprehensive online monitoring system for 110kV submarine power cable is designed in the paper, which is based on the time domain analysis of Brillouin scattering and the laser interference principle, and makes use of the optical fiber built in submarine cables. The system includes disturbance and temperature monitoring host, front and back sensing units, guide cables and optical fiber submarine power cables, to monitor automatically submarine cables'disturbance, long-distance temperature, stress, load flow, and faults. The experimental implementation contains laboratory tests, commissioned tests and field tests to achieve intelligent and intensive online monitoring. The main work and achievements are as follows:1. Present a comprehensive online monitoring system based on the time domain analysis of Brillouin scattering and the laser interference principle, and analyzed the main structure.2. Designed a security protect system for distributed optical fiber composite submarine power cables based on fiber-optical interferometer structure , and realized early warning, alarm and location to threatens.3. Designed an online monitoring system for submarine power cables based on BOTDA technology, including optical modules and hardware circuits, based on the temperature accuracy of±1℃at the 50km end, achieved the international advanced level.4. Developed the experimental implementation to determine the construction way for the monitoring system under the terminal tower.5. Made a summary of the research finished, proposed ideas for future work.Research results may provide an effective monitoring method for long power lines and underwater power lines. The database could be reference for power line design and power line operation, and may propose new ideas for improving the power lines reliability, safety and service life.
