Lightning is a natural phenomenon. With its high frequency and destructive force, lightning brings about countless losses in both lives and property. While most of the modern microelectronics have the disadvantages of low Insulation intensity, poor overvoltage resistance, poor over current ability, and particularly sensitive to the lightning electromagnetic impulse, these micro electric equipment will cause serious consequences once they are be stricken by lightning.This subject mainly takes atmospheric electrostatic field theory as a foundation, and discusses the relationship between thunder-clouds structure and thunderstorms on electricity. Based on the discuss, we analyzed the relationship between the parameter selection of ferrite with lightning overvoltage and current strength, and observed the effect of ferrite inhibit lightning overvoltage through the low-pressure simulation experiment of the control of lightning overvoltage. Further we analyzed the possibility of using the ferrite as a lightning protection device and placing it in protection equipment for lightning protection, namely the possibility of the indoor lightning electromagnetic interference resistance, so as to enhance the technical level of the lightning protection purposes.According to the relevant material and research for the very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO) in lightning protection and gas insulated substation (GIS), ferrite with high frequency magnetic characteristics will restrain the fast transient overvoltage of GIS. The high frequency of VFTO with a lot in common with VFTO of GIS, namely higher amplitude, higher gradient, is very easy to result with the breakdown of the corresponding electronic equipment, and different insulation place only is ray waves duration and amplitude. With only about 3 orders of magnitude less than VFTO, the ferrite is equivalent to the inductance and resistance of the parallel or pick-up in lightning point and series struck to equipment which can prevent thunder electric wave propagation and decay its energy. In contrast with the measures of protection in modern technology of protecting, such as tap, block, grounding, pressure and shielding, and other comprehensive measures, we proposed that, we should put the ferrite ring in front of the devices to be protected which can be used to absorb the energy of the thunder electric wave. With its simple usage and small volume for built-in, ray waves won't start surge protector, and can provide the constant electricity, so the proposal can be popularized to the lightning protection engineering.
