With the rapid development of China's economy, the market demand of sightseeing ship continues to increase, and China's sightseeing ship industry is facing good development opportunities. Because of its low price, strong sightseeing functions, inland sightseeing ship will certainly become an important part of the sightseeing ship market. Based on CAD of 19m sightseeing ship, a design method of high precision and high efficiency has been explored, which will lay foundations for designing ships of the same type.Based on the design requirements of 19m sightseeing ship and combined with design criterions of sightseeing ship, an overall design scheme is put forward. Adopting CAD and TRIBON and using ship hydrostatic calculation and stability standard system 4.1, the ship lines design for 19m sightseeing ship is achieved and every performance of ship statics is analyzed and checked in order to meet the design criterions of CCS for sightseeing ships.First of all, the technology development and application of sightseeing ship are expounded, including the development of CAD using in ship design and the present research situation, new concepts and new technology at home and abroad, and their application in 19m sightseeing ship design. An overall design for 19m sightseeing ship is studied. Combined with the design criterions for small inland river ships, main structure and dimensions of the ship has been calculated and checked.Secondly, ship lines design has been studied. Ship lines design is an important part of a ship's overall design and has great effect on ship's technical and economical efficiency. Ship's outer contour, with a double curvature, is streamlined, and ship has a complex and smooth curved surface, which increase the difficulty of ship lines design and the expression curved surface. Through the fairing mathematical description of ship lines, the lines module of TRIBON has been used to achieve the design and fairing of 19m sightseeing ship. Relevant features have been summed up to provide the basis for the study of optimization design.Finally, the performance calculation has been made by using ship hydrostatic calculation and stability standard system 4.1 of CCS, including hydrostatic calculation, gravity center calculation, intact stability calculation and damage stability calculation. The data show that the calculation results accord with the standard and meet the requirements of criterions.During the design of 19m sightseeing ship, according to its general characteristics and the user's requirements, CAD can be used to design and study the ship lines, and check its performance. At present, there is no optimization scheme for sightseeing ship design, so will the application of CAD in this field has practical and significant guiding.
