Following with the rapid development of power electronics technology, variable velocity variable frequency technology is widely used in all kinds of field. However, the technology for design of variable—frequency motor as the action element of variable frequency speed control, the design of variable frequency motor is not perfect , many problems for design and techniques are not solved. So the subject on design and analysis of inverter-driven induction motor attracts many scholars'attention.Because the inverter-driven induction motor works under different frequency, the parameters, such as efficiency, power factor, loses and so on, are different under different frequency. The analyses and research of inverter-driven motor are carried through under different frequency in this paper.The generation mechanics of time and space harmonics in the inverter-driven induction motor is analyzed in details. The influences of harmonic to the operation of induction motor are described, especially the harm to the insulation structure of induction motor. As the frequency increasing, the iron losses of variable-frequency motor will become more and more. This paper studies the performance of the magnetic materials and points out the method of calculation of iron losses under any magnetic field waveform—Harmonic analysis method. Furthermore, point out the coefficient of correction on calculation of iron losses in the first time, which can improve the calculation accuracy.This paper begins with the design of conventional induction motor, pointing out the difference between inverter-driven induction motor and conventional induction motor in design methods. Then, the design features of frequency conversion motor have been analyzed in details. Furthermore, it has specially discussed how to determine the rated point and the key dimension for inverter-driven induction motor. Lastly, it has mainly explained the influence of the rotor's number and slot type to the motor's work; and it also has discussed the insulated structure design of induction motor under inverter driven.Based on the method of design inverter-driven motor, a 380V 1.5KW induction motor is designed in this paper, which could be used in the variable frequency and adjustable speed systems.
