The steel frame structure is one of the most widely used steel structures in the actual project, as compared to steel and concrete structures are lightweight, high strength of the outstanding merits of making the steel structure under the same loading conditions, the cross-sectional dimension is much smaller than the same concrete in force under the conditions of section size. Therefore, for the steel structures, stability problem is the most important one in the design of steel structures instead of intensity problem.Stability design of steel frame structures is on the design of each root frame column in the final analysis. There are the length factor design method, the hypothetical level of loading design method and the layer stability factor design method about the design of frame column. First of all the article elaborated the design principles and design process about the design method of length factor, hypothetical level of loading and layer stability factor of these three methods, and then combined with a four-eight cross-frame instance, carried out a detailed stability analysis. First using the traditional length factor to determine the critical loading of the column first layer lateral stiffness, and then using SAP2000 software impose different levels of the framework and strive to have resistance to lateral stiffness obtained from the critical load, critical load obtain the lateral stiffness were compared. Later, the framework went on elastic buckling analysis, and interpretation of the physical meaning and practical value of the buckling mode. Top-level pumping column brought the possibility of roof beam buckling analysis, and analysis of the three sections of symmetric uniform beam to produce compression buckling critical load formula, proposed a new formula. Also on the pressure in the roof beams beam column rotational restraint decline are analyzed.
