Heat exchanger, as an energy conversion device, has a wide range of applications in the chemical industry, machinery, refrigeration, electric power, building materials, metallurgy, environmental protection and other industries, and its heat transfer performance is directly related to the production efficiency of enterprise. Therefore, the research and development of new type high efficient heat exchanger has important significance to protect environment, save resources, accelerate national economy development process.In this paper, a novel longitudinal-flow heat exchanger is studied, which support structure in shell side is the new baffle, consisting of mesh and baffle plates welded ring, and one baffle into a separate group, arranged in parallel for isometric heat inside the shell, this structure can make heat tubes arrange in equilateral triangle. In order to study the heat transfer and flow performance of new longitudinal-flow heat exchanger, there are experimental comparative research of the arched baffle heat exchanger with the same specifications. Then creating a simplified shell model calculations, the numerical simulation on arched baffle heat exchanger and a new vertical-flow heat exchanger is to obtain two kinds of heat exchanger temperature distribution inside the shell, flow and pressure distribution, and the simulation results were compared with experimental data to verify the correctness and feasibility of numerical simulation.Through comprehensive experimental study and numerical simulation following results was obtained:the new longitudinal-flow heat exchanger has good temperature distribution, the small flow dead zone, the low shell pressure drop, and overall performance is much higher than the baffle plate heat exchanger. Experimental data derived by the heat transfer correlations and flow calculations, which provides a theoretical basis for engineering applications.
