With the rapid development of human society, serious impacts were brought to the earth and its environment in the world today. The energy-saving and environmental protection has been main trend of times. In the vehicle industry, because of its great influence to the environment, safer, more energy-saving, greener, and more comfortable become the main characteristic of modern or future vehicle. As the major part of the vehicle, the transmission's performance absolutely has important affects to the vehicle's performance. Taking the power, economy, comfort and emission all into account is the main direction of the transmission development. Meanwhile the great effort of electronic technology and control technology make it reality. During the development process of transmission, the dual clutch transmission (DCT) and continuously variable transmission (CVT) is proved to be the best transmission so far, due to their great performance.Firstly, this paper introduce the type, characteristic and history of the transmission, and focus on the metal V-belt CVT, describing its structure and theory in detail. Then, the mathematical model is builded up for the main part of the vehicle model. In the following, the AVL CRUISE software is introduced briefly and the vehicle model equipped with DCT and CVT is established. Simulation, analysis and the results comparison between them are made.Firstly, this paper introduce the type, characteristic and history of the transmission, and focus on the metal V-belt CVT, describing its structure and theory in detail. Then, the AVL CRUISE software is introduced briefly. The mathematical model is builded up for the main part of the vehicle model. In the following, the vehicle model equipped with DCT and CVT is established. Simulation, analysis and the results comparison between them are made.Besides, for the metal V-belt CVT, which is mainly studied in this paper, its key controlling techniques is studied here, pertaining to the non-linear and time-varying characters of metal v-belt CVT on vehicle. This paper designs the Fuzzy adaptive-PI composite speed ratio control system based on the AVL CRUISE software and the MATLAB/SIMULINK software. This control method not only makes good use of the fuzzy controller in adapting the non-linear and time-varying characters of the target under control and strong robustness, but also takes advantage of the PI controller in eliminating the steady error and enhancing control accuracy. This paper also compares the Fuzzy adaptive-PI control method with the classical PID control method and proves the advantage of the Fuzzy adaptive-PI control method. Also, in the simulation and analysis of vehicle equipped with CVT, the results shows that the Fuzzy adaptive-PI method composite speed ratio control can track the target speed ratio well, it has a good dynamic response and high control accuracy of steady state.
