As an important guarantee of auto safty, the brake system has always been concerned, and the Brake-by-wire (BBW) system as a new brake system has been the development of the brake system. The BBW system has been created which uses electronic technology and network technology. Since the traditional mechanic and hydraulic components have been insteaded by electronic components in the BBW system, the structure and controllability of the brake system have been improved, at the same time the brake time has been shortened. The BBW system need a motor as its'power source which have the advantages, for example simple structure,easy maintainance,big starting torque,small starting current and so on. At the same time Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has been highly attended in motor areas for the same advantages. So SRM has been used in the BBW system in the paper, whose feasibility has been tested by the simulation.First, the basic structure and working principle of the BBW system and SRM are introduced, and the design requirement of SRM Drive System which is used in the BBW system is proposed according to the advantages of the BBW system in the paper.Second, the model of rotor position angle,the model of power converter and the model of torque distribution are designed according to the flaw and characteristics of SRM.Third, based on analysising the existing modeling methods in SRM, a new SRM model is bulit by RBF network, which is trained and tested by the data that is obtained by the experiment of a four-phase, 8/ 6 pole, 1.5kW prototype of SRM. Since the general optimization method of RBF network can not meet the requirement of SRM model, a new optimization method (QPSO-SNPOM) is created in the paper, and this method is used to training and testing the SRM model of RBF network in the simulation, whose results prove the feasibility of QPSO-SNPOM mothed.Fourth, based on analysising the basic requirements of control method which the BBW system and SRM required, Fuzzy-Sliding Mode controller is designed according to the advantages of Fuzzy controller and Sliding Mode controller. By MATLAB / SIMULINK software to establish SRM torque control system at the actual working conditions, the simulation results of this system showed that: SRM torque control system can be applied in the automotive BBW system. Finally, the development and direction of SRM which is used in the BBW system is proposed and forecasted in the paper.
