With the extensive application in modern cars, the rubber bushing,which has elastic, viscous damping characteristics and plastic propertie in large deformation, deviates from the original using of improving the vehicle handling and stability, and also causes negative effects to the whole car.The change of rubber bushing will affect the vehicle, such as the change of mounting direction; the different sizes of geometric structure; and changes in material properties, will affect the suspension even vehicle performance. But in the end, it is mainly expressed in the rubber bushing stiffness value. Studies have shown that different forms of rubber bushing have a different influence on different suspension structure. Taking the movement characteristics of rubber bushing on the suspension and important influence on vehicle performance into account, comparative analysed the K & C characteristics of suspension and handling and stability characteristics under different rubber bushing stiffness.This paper specifically describes the content of suspension K & C characteristics, research methodology, simulation test in virtual prototyping and the influence of its evaluation index to vehicle handling and stability. The mechanical model of rubber bush in characteristics is established in ADAMS, and MacPherson suspension, double wishbone suspension, and the front and rear independent suspension of a domestic vehicle with rubber bushings are also built. Doing parallel wheel travel and lateral force experiment in ADAMS under different rubber bushing stiffness index, obtaining relevant suspension evaluation indicator curve, and comparative analyse the suspension K & C characteristics under different rubber bushing stiffness. The results show that the smaller the rubber bushing stiffness, the more sensitive the evaluation indicator, and the sensitivity is not the same to different suspension.Built the domestic vehicle model in Carsim, and mainly research the influence of suspension K & C characteristics to vehicle handling and stability under different rubber bushing stiffness. According to the national standards of handling and stability, the snake experiment, angle laplace domain experiment of steering transient response experiment,and steady-state rotary experiment are carried out under different rubber bushing stiffness. On the basis of the national steering stability evaluation method, experiments are scored in various rubber bushing stiffness. The results show that to the very car, the vehicle handling and stability will become better with the increase of bushing stiffness.
